Although there might be variations on the exact boundaries, the general thoughts on what to call your manuscript are:
Words | Classification |
100-1000 words | Flash Fiction |
1000-7500 words | Short Story |
7500-17500 words | Novelette |
17500-40000 words | Novella |
40000-60000 words | Short Novel |
60000-10000 words | Novel |
120000+ words | Epic! |
The amount of pages don't really matter - they can be affected by font size, trim size and so much more.
But this is just a guide to the general classification of a manuscript. It is much more important to concentrate on the content than the word count.
